Our music lesson students will have the opportunity to take lessons from the comfort of their own home or in one of the teachers studios. Careful attention is placed on each student to ensure a custom lesson plan. My lessons range from beginner to advanced, and my curriculum revolves around: 1) Understanding the basics of theory, and showcasing how those basics are applied in songs (specifically bands and artists that you regularly listen to). 2) Proper technique, and also 3) Some fun and fancy tricks! The idea is to take what you have already developed a love for, and create an even deeper connection. I believe in cultivating music at a high level from the very start emphasizing that one must listen in order to play. I encourage activities that foster focus and attention to detail. The more deeply one listens ,the richer the musical experience.. I tap into the concept of octave theory utilizing solfege as well as linear concepts on single strings.. I've been playing a variety of instruments since I first taught myself a few tunes on the piano at the age of 8. I settled on clarinet as my primary in 2004 and have picked up saxophone, flute, and guitar since then. Generally speaking, I use a learner-centered approach, encourage astute questioning, a cooperative stimulation of critical thinking, and I prefer an active versus passive teaching style. Regardless of the student's age, I want him/her to have fun as much as possible, so I strive to make the unavoidable repetitive exercises more enjoyable by facilitating the student's creative input.
