Growing up in a musical family, I didn't pick up an instrument until the age of 18. I played in a small punk band briefly in 2000-2001 then focused on family for several years. Every lesson plan I make is customized to a student's interests, learning needs, and age. I combine a combination of technique focus and repertoire learning in each lesson. As students progress, their plans are updated to reflect their growth as a musician. I like to involve students directly in the goal planning process and keep them regularly updated about where they are on meeting their goals. I took guitar lessons for five years. I took all four music theory classes and all three music history classes (ancient to baroque, classical and romantic, and contemporary) in college. In college a gave two recitals with a variety of music from different periods including a couple of pieces of my own. During my internship with Leaders of Tomorrow Youth Center  and volunteer work with The Cavalier Music Enrichment Program (both based in Baltimore, Maryland), I have taught music to over 250 students. From general music theory to specific instruction in brass, woodwind, and percussion techniques; I have had the privilege to work with students of various ages, spanning from sixth graders to college students.
