I'm a lifelong musician, and play flute professionally in both classical and jazz styles. Music is so much part of my life and I love sharing my passion and experience. I have performed in several genres. I started performing in Community orchestras, Santa Monica Symphony and the Burbank Symphony. I have worked as a studio musician several major record companies in the area of flute performance, orchestrating and arranging music for various recording artist. My teaching experience in the Los Angeles Unified School District spans 16 years in instrumental music. I believe to successfully teach a subject matter, an instructor must not only have a thorough knowledge but a concise and clear path of instructions that lead to positive learning outcomes. I started teaching flute more than a decade ago, and hope to share the gift of learning this universal language for years to come. I have interned for leading intellectual property and entertainment lawyers, including the former director of business affairs for Sony, the late Steve Gordon. My volunteer management experiences were filled with helping artists educate children in their respective and diverse communities. Then, after law school working for two bay area nonprofit organizations, one that focused on nonprofit compliance on an international scale and the other that is formed to dismantle systems of oppression through organizing, advocacy, and litigation, I have dovetailed my skills and beliefs into both working for civil rights, and teaching flute in expanding the reach of music education nationwide. I received my formal education in flute performance at the Oberlin Conservatory (B.Mus) and California Institute of the Arts—CalArts (M.F.A.).   I am an active freelance musician in the Los Angeles area.  I also compose and sing and hugely value creativity both in my own work and in my student's work!  I have experience performing with orchestras and small chamber groups, as well as performing electronic music and improvising. My work has taken me all over the world, from exotic, global itineraries on board 5-star cruise ships, to the some of the top music venues in New York City, as well as the homes and classrooms of many satisfied students. I graduated from the New England Conservatory of Music, with a B.M. in Jazz Performance (saxophone). I also hold a Certificate of Eligibility in K-12 Music from the New Jersey Department of Education, as well as a Substitute Teaching Certificate (specializing in music) for Sussex County school districts in New Jersey.
