I have been teaching young people and adults how to play musical instruments for over 20 years. Currently I conduct after school music programs at the University of Memphis Campus School, CTK Lutheran School in Memphis, and Incarnation Catholic School in Collierville. I typically structure my lessons based on each individual student and their level of commitment. Some of my students want to go to college for music performance, and others just want to sound better in their school's band. I take that into account when choosing particular warmups and repertoire. I always begin my lessons with a few duets with my students. This helps strengthen the student's sight reading skills and it also gives them a chance to hear me play. Read More

I graduated from Free Will Baptist Bible Collage and took my flute lessons at Belmont University. I have had the privilege of playing with several groups including; the Tupelo MS symphony orchestra, Belmont orchestra, the Belmont Opera company, the Nashville Philharmonic and the Philharmonic flute choir. I have accompanied several choirs, and played at several weddings. I started teaching some younger players in High School, and after that I focused on getting my own skill in the upward projectory. Fostering the interest in music into a passion within my students is the ideal teaching situation. This is why I place importance on listening to the student's goals to make decisions for certain parts of the curriculum. There are technical and theoretical skills that must be learned, but the students have some choices in materials. I like Faber and Faber piano adventures because they teach a lot like I do. I've been developing a power point and You Tube presentation to go along with the book for those students who need more visual stimulus. I like various curruiculum's with Trumpet and Brass players. I stay around the Trumpet players Bible using an Arban's book with some Clark exercises along with the students band book to help them not to form bad habits. Read More
