I usually recommend piano as a starting instrument for children at least 5 years of age. Most often, I use the Alfred Piano Library Series of coordinating lesson books. I am most comfortable teaching beginner to intermediate level piano students. My main teaching instrument is Flute, and I can successfully teach ages 9 and up depending on the size of the student (sometimes younger if a curved head joint is used). They are very clear and helpful when learning the fingerings and they give students an opportunity in the early stages of their learning to play well known classical pieces at their level. Beginning students will also learn major scales. For intermediate and advanced students I use studies from Marcel Moyse, Taffanel and Gaubert, Trevor Wye, Jeanine Baxtresser, Andersen, Boehm, and so on. Read More
