I first started music at a young age through my local church; my first instrument being flute. I studied flute for many years before taking formal voice lessons. This led me to become a voice performance major at the Manhattan School of Music, where I sang lead roles in and outside of the school. In addition, I continued my flute studies as well as strengthen my piano skills. I am a singer/songwriter who enjoys the process of creating a song from start to finish. I also am a studio singer and love the experience of being in the studio recording my own original music. I graduated in 2009 with a contemporary music degree that provided a well-rounded musical education. Due to lessons being customized for each student various method materials will be used including: method books, theory books, performance books, and my own materials that are created to fit the students' needs. After a level assessment during the first lesson music, including books, practice materials, and solos will be chosen to meet that level and be age appropriate. I try to learn quickly how my students learn best and then work with that to help them learn the material. With that I am more prepared to work with them and help set realistic goals for each lesson. I hope that through lessons I help them develop a passion for music as well as playing their instrument. I am always asking the student how they feel about the songs they play, what they want to learn, and making sure they are grasping the material so that I can encourage further learning with my students.
