My teaching experience dates back to my high school years. I tutored my siblings while they were practicing the piano. In school band, I was the sectional leader who lead and taught new members learning how to play the flute. Those experiences became my motivation to be a good music teacher. I really enjoyed teaching different ages of students, learning from each other, and growing altogether. I have been teaching music to students of all ages for over half of my life and have worked with numerous teaching and non-profit organizations to provide music education varying from guitar classes to entire ensembles, songwriting to recording, and vocal music to preschoolers. I have taken and taught many professional development courses to further my skills and those of classroom teachers and other music educators. Although I loved my work in Los Angeles, I have relocated to the Kansas City area to continue growing as a musician and educate students on the many possibilities that music can offer them through instruments, recording and editing, music notation, performing, and advanced music theory. I am an experienced and passionate musician who teaches for the love of music, not for the love of competition. I hold degrees in music education and saxophone from the University of Wisconsin at Whitewater and humanities from California State at Dominguez Hills, as well as a number of year's study in saxophone and jazz improvisation and theory at the Wisconsin Conservatory of Music in Milwaukee. I have been published through Plank Road Publishing and Music K-8 Magazine and have performed at venues large and small, as well as theatres, festivals and clubs from the Midwest to Florida and ultimately to New Mexico.
