I like Faber and Faber piano adventures because they teach a lot like I do. I generally use a method book for teaching band or orchestral private students. I also use other resources depending on the needs of the student. I always ask my students what they want to achieve and base my teaching on those goals. ( Of course, I provide guidance in making some of those goals!) Many self taught drummers learn bad habits which become very difficult to break as they get older. We will break these habits if needed. For the beginner, we will spend the first two or three lessons working on proper grip and motion. Once that is mastered, we will use the Maroni book and use the first page of Stick Control. I would like to supplement that with a John Wooton play along book which takes the boredom out of Stick Control. Read More

For a beginning student on voice or drums, fundamentals will be incorporated into their warm-ups each lesson and throughout the week. Each student has a reason for wanting to take lessons and incorporating that into the lessons will give the student more drive to practice. Technology is very important in my lessons: the studio is equiped with speakers so the student can play along to their favorite music. There is a also a printer so worksheets can be instantly made.
