Whether it's drums, piano, guitar, or any orchestral instrument, they all share a common thread in melody and rhythm. Once the student has a firm grasp on note value and melody, they will begin to learn simple songs that gradually increase in difficulty. From this I began taking on elementary age kids and grew to about 10 students a week in New York before leaving for Berklee. I have taught and performed for many Berklee Summer Programs including Basslines, Vocal Workshop, Stage Performance Workshop and Five Week. I have over 30 years of teaching experience. I began teaching Music right out of college, instrumental, vocal and general music classes. As a Pastor I still directed musicals and I taught drumers how to play drumset and required them to play for my ministry once they were good enough.
