Nothing is more rewarding than seeing one of my students develop a passion for music! I find it's important that each student progresses at his or her own pace. I encourage this by setting realistic goals for my students at each lesson. Acknowledging accomplishments helps fuel a students desire to progress, and makes students eager to learn more. I first began teachng bass guitar in my early twenties.  Later in life I worked in both Japan and Thailand, where I studied with master drum teachers and also top piano and violin instructors.  After returning to the United States, I entered a program to become a certified guitar instructor, and am the ONLY instructor in my area which has earned these certifications which are specific to several different points of teaching guitar. I generally use a method book for teaching band or orchestral private students. I also use other resources depending on the needs of the student. I always ask my students what they want to achieve and base my teaching on those goals. ( Of course, I provide guidance in making some of those goals!) Playing with other musicians and performing is my favorite thing to do in the whole world and I have been doing it professionally since 2012. I graduated Magnum Cum Laude from Slippery Rock University in 2018 and then was hired by Princess Cruises. I traveled the world performing every night for a year until 2019 pandemic and just recently moved to Nashville, TN. In addition to collegiate education, I have extensively studied Brazilian percussion, Irish Bodhran, and Cuban percussion by taking private lessons with masters in each field. Read More

I approach teaching in a universal way before specializing on a student's particular interest within music. I try to provide students with a road map so they can determine where they want to go musically. I do this by introducing various styles and techniques that they may not have heard before.
