I absolutely love getting students really excited about their instrument. I like to show videos of high level playing and introduce a wide variety of genres and styles while I find exactly what it is that inspires the student to play. My lesson structure normally consists of a warm up, rudiment/sticking work, reading or playing exercise and new concepts, then work on a song. My methods vary student to student- we all learn differently and my objective is to find what works, wether it be a quick demonstration, or a complete breakdown right to the fundamentals. No student is too slow nor incapable. One of the things I really keep my eye on is technique- nothing is more detrimental to a student's progress than poor technique and adaptation! I taught drumset at the Drummer's Collective in New York City for over five years. While in New York, I also worked in several music recording studios and played in many Jazz Blues clubs. I taught marching percussion at The University of Maryland, Appalachain State University, Georgia Tech and The United States Naval Academy (Drum Bugle Corps).
