I am a dedicated musician who is determined to continue to grow in my craft. I have had the pleasure of playing, and studying with many great musicians that have different backgrounds in music. I have received an Associates degree in music from De Anza college in Cupertino, California. I currently play in three different bands, ranging from big band jazz, combo jazz, rock, fusion, and r&b/pop. I started teaching part time while still in high school back in my native Malaysia and that is where my experience began. I taught on and off while in Malaysia during the pandemic (due to the nature of COVID), but I have gotten into regular teaching since moving to LA in 2022. I emphasize technique for beginning students. I call attention to hand and finger control, and offer a number of exercises develop the muscles needed to play fluidly. I teach a few levels of the rudiments, and show students the opening pages of the famous George Stone book, Stick Control for the Modern Drummer.
