My experience with teaching began in high school, about twenty years ago. Way before I had any degrees in music. I was very involved in the instrumental music program at my school and took private lessons to reinforce and enhance my knowledge and practice of the craft. Very few musicians are virtuosos and can pick up an instrument day one! I require metronome skill practice...you are expected to have excellent meter as a Percussionist! For beginners, I'll want to teach basic music reading and rudiments on the snare drum along with Metronome.
