I started playing snare at 10 and drumset at 14 focusing mostly on rock drumming. I played quads and quints in marching band in high school and bass drum in college. I then studies jazz and percussion at Grand Rapids Community College and Grand Valley State University. I then studied Music composition at University of North Texas. Typically, lesson plans are build around students goals. Some students may not have an interest in learning from a "traditional" approach from a book. Although this is highly recommended, I create different lesson plans for each individual student. I typically use and coach students from "Stick Control: for the snare drummer", "Syncopation for the modern drummer" and "The Blue Book" for drums.
