After this, Erik continued teaching private lessons in Easton, Pennsylvania, building a studio focused on strong musical fundamentals, confidence, and long-term growth for students. He currently serves as the band director for the homeschool co-op Knowlton Fine Arts, where he leads students in ensemble playing and helps guide their musical development through structured band instruction. In addition to directing the band program, Erik is also a brass instructor at The Lesson Center, teaching at three locations and working with brass students to strengthen technique, tone, and musical expression. My aim is to cultivate in students a love of playing that will motive them to practice regularly. Rather than being totally result-oriented, I emphasize the process of learning and practicing, which can be a rewarding experience in itself, and have beneficial effects that stretch beyond just musical achievement. I try to create a learning environment that is challenging, stimulating, and most importantly, fun. I want to empower students with the skills and confidence to teach themselves, so they can continue to develop independently, and have music as a source of joy that they can carry with them for the rest of their lives.
