I'm a professional, motivated and passionate drum instructor who loves handing down my knowledge and experience of drums as a graduate of Musicians Institute and a live performing, touring musician. In 2009, I graduated from Musicians Institute of Hollywood, CA with an Associates of Arts in Drums/Performance. So far, I have been halfway around the world performing live, and am always learning proper drum etiquette and positivity as a professional along the way. Read More

Depending on the students' improvement, I work performance with harder songs and books. Reading is also a key aspect on my lessons. I also teach advanced double bass drumming for those who are interested. * For hobby drummers: I don't push that hard on technique and reading, but it's there. Minimal technique is important so you can have fun instead of struggling with the sticks and the kit. Also a song based system. Read More

I have an interactive yet focused style of teaching. I can(but don't recommend) to use the Suzuki method. I feel that all aspects related to the instruments weigh much importance in teaching the student. However, with the Suzuki method, the student's primary focus is to learn pieces rapidly and climb the level of difficulty as fast as possible. This prevents him/her to fully understand and analyze the piece and lesson and it can also turn the student away from pursuing the instrument further. Read More

When I see a smile on someone's face in the presence of a musical accomplishment, the spiritual reward for that service is something I live for! To be able to help a student attain their goals requires a flexible teaching style, that can cater to every type of person. Positive affirmations are a key ingredient to helping a student feel good about they mile stones, but remaining realistic for the student at the same time allows them to make progress at their own pace, and feel good about it nonetheless. My teaching experience dates back to when I was a student at the Los Angeles High School for the Arts. While pursuing my own education I also had five private drum students ranging from the ages of 7-15. I am fortunate enough to have learned a great deal about teaching all different ages from my father, who has been a private guitar teacher for over 35 years. During my time at Berklee College of Music, I taught group clinics and while our tour with the Karen Lovely Band I mentored mentally handicapped music students in the Netherlands with a group called United By Music. I am motivated to keep students constantly engaged and passionate about their instrument! As a multi-instrumentalist I always play different instruments with students to give them a sense of playing in a group, which is what music should be all about! I also do my best to acknowledge the students strengths and weaknesses and take some time aside in class to speak to them about them. I believe it is important to have positive feedback but also to recognizes areas in which students can improve. Read More
