Once the student has grasped the fundamentals, I sculpt the lesson plan depending on the style(s) the student would like to learn, from Rock and Funk to Jazz, Latin and more. For my intermediate students, I will teach them all 12 major keys and the circle of fourths and fifths and how they interplay with song writing and chord progressions. I will then teach them the chords of the scales and turn the chords into progressions and into songs. Teaching the student vital necessities to help them expand their own vocabulary with drumming, as well as introducing them to new music styles is a very good way for any student to excel in a rapid fashion.
