Another helpful thing Ive found is that I like to have students play whatever they want to play. I can provide easy, basic music books for children of younger ages for structure, but as a child gets older, playing what he/she actually wants to play is a key piece in helping the child love to play, instead of forcing them to stuck with something they dont love just because its a good thing to do.
