For beginning students, we work out of beginning method books such as Essential Elements or Standard of Excellence. This is supplemented with worksheets and personalized exercises specific to their needs. As the student advances, we will begin to introduce duets to begin to understand and play harmonized music. The curriculum that I use varies according to the various orchestral instruments, singing or piano, and of course according to the levels of ability. I work with many different technique books and workbooks to teach music notation and reading.Within 3-6 months, my students will be reading notes, understanding rhythms both complex and simple, and playing and singing anything from classical to Pop to Broadway and even writing and recording (I am a recording producer as well)their own songs, if they choose! I have taught private clarinet lessons since 2013 and I love being able to share my passion for the clarinet and music with my students. Currently, I am a Master Teacher on the faculty of Magnolia Music Studio RiverWalk. I have also taught at The Ohio State University's Clarinet Academy, teaching private lessons, coaching student chamber ensembles, and presenting a lecture on reed break-in and adjustment. As a Graduate Teaching Associate at The Ohio State University, I taught undergraduate clarinet lessons, gave masterclasses for undergraduate and master's students, instructed the clarinet portion of the Woodwind Methods course for music education majors, conducted clarinet sectionals for the OSU University Band, coached undergraduate chamber ensembles, and assisted with OSU Clarinet Choir rehearsals.
