I like to use a wide variety of materials, from classical to jazz music.  CLARINET: For clarinet students, I use "standard" conservatory etude and scale books (such as the Rose Studies and Behrmann Studies).  I also use the Jamey Abersold Jazz Methods, which feature CD 'play-a-long' recordings of jazz music.  I also have my students perform a wide range of solo music, from 'standards' like the Mozart Clarinet Concerto to 20th century repertoire by composers like Bernstein, Copland and others.  I think it is important for students to be able to play jazz and improvise, so I teach them about Blues and how to play jazz, as well as classical music. My methods of teaching are based on where the students are at in there study of music. For beginners I like to teach them how to read music as they learn each note on their instruments. After that it really depends on what kind of music you want to learn, what you already know. While at the Hartt School, she toured with the Wind Ensemble and performed in the CBDNA conference, and the 2007 MENC conference with the Orchestra and Chamber Choir as a guest percussionist. Throughout her degrees, she has performed five solo recitals and has commissioned a number of new works for percussion, including a concerto, percussion quartet, trio, and two solo works. I started working as a professional tutor in 2009, teaching subjects from music to chess and economics. My transition from general tutor to full-time music teacher happened in 2014, and every day I'm reminded how wonderful that decision was. I believe success in music comes from passion, performance, and consistency. My method focuses on beginning slowly, mastering a piece of music before building speed and expression.
