I was a student leader in the marching band, serving as the woodwind captain for the marching band and the senior student conductor for the concert bands. With these positions, I was able to tutor peers and work on expanding my knowledge of teaching music. I have had many experiences in my pursuit of Music throughout the Eastern Seaboard. I have had professional singing experiences as well in a few varied genres, include Gospel, Spiritual and Classical musics. My professional training in Education has afforded me the luxury of teaching in a variety of educational settings ranging from Pre-School to Adult Continuing Education. To culminate my work experiences in Therapeutic Music as both a Recreation Specialist and Music Therapist, I completed one year of study at New York University and have plans to one day finish a program I started there. I have also maintained my skill at performance on Woodwinds and Classical guitar, which I enjoy especially having students to prepare for. I began teaching while at music college, and soon found that I enjoyed imparting my love of music to others more than I enjoyed performing myself! I have been teaching private lessons at home and in students’ homes for 10 years. I taught classroom music in school in the UK for 5 years before my move to the USA. I like to allow my teaching style and repertoire to be somewhat directed by the student, while making sure that the music they are playing is a suitable difficulty and teaching them a rounded technique.
