Our music lesson students will have the opportunity to take lessons from the comfort of their own home or in one of the teachers studios. Careful attention is placed on each student to ensure a custom lesson plan. I have completed the "Every Child Can!" Suzuki course and it has helped define the basics of my teaching method. The method puts emphasis on bringing out the maximum potential that is within each child. There is something in education called differentiation, and this concept says that if your teaching style does not work for the student, then it is up to the teacher to change there method to fit what works best for the child. As a music education major I spent a lot of time learning pedagogy, assessment, and evaluation. I've written dozens of lesson plans including those for students with special needs. I really do cater each lesson to each individual student's needs and ambitions. One of the biggest skills needed as a musician is knowing how to practice and improve. I focus this a lot. We also keep it fun of course and play duets together! Instilling proper technique is crucial to healthy playing of the cello. I give systematic instructions on how to navigate the cello. I am a patient teacher and encourge students to work at their own pace. If we need to spend more time on a certain concept or technique than one lesson allows, we will. I want to make sure that they understand throroughly before moving on to the next concept.
