I first began teachng bass guitar in my early twenties.  Later in life I worked in both Japan and Thailand, where I studied with master drum teachers and also top piano and violin instructors.  After returning to the United States, I entered a program to become a certified guitar instructor, and am the ONLY instructor in my area which has earned these certifications which are specific to several different points of teaching guitar. I grew up in Nashville, Tennessee where as a young person I played cello and bass in all sorts of groups - from rock and funk bands to jazz big bands and combos. I fell in love with classical music in my early 20s, and I've pursued it passionately ever since. I earned a M.M. in cello performance in 2019 from FSU where I studied with Greg Sauer. I also hold an undergraduate degree from the University of Tennessee Chattanooga, where I double majored in International Studies and Spanish. Read More

I am very familiar with the Suzuki method for cello, so I generally work with those books and the Suzuki philosophy of nurturing students and being supportive of them. For young students, getting parents involved in the lessons is fun and super effective and getting to students to learn discipline and progress quickly on the instrument.
