Overview:
Hello.  I am a multi-instrumental musician (playing electric and acoustic guitar, bass, drums, piano, violin, viola and more) and teacher with over thirty years experience playing, studying, writing, performing, teaching and recording music.   As a musician, I have sought to take music in new directions by integrating numerous diverse musical and cultural influences into my playing style.  As an instructor, I am committed to getting the students the results he or she wants by developing a program specific to the student's individual needs.
EXPERIENCE
I first began teachng bass guitar in my early twenties.  Later in life I worked in both Japan and Thailand, where I studied with master drum teachers and also top piano and violin instructors.  After returning to the United States, I entered a program to become a certified guitar instructor, and am the ONLY instructor in my area which has earned these certifications which are specific to several different points of teaching guitar.  I believe it is important to develop good techniques and study habits from the beginning, regardless of age, and I believe that consistency in practice is a fundamental key to success.  I know it is possible for older beginners to reach a high level of skill through dedication, practice and with the guidance of a qualified instructor.
METHODS USED
My method of teaching involves researching a wide range of resources in order to find what is best for the student at the current stage in his or her development.  Using my own knowledge, I am able to effectively adapt and improve these resources so as to be accessible to the student.  For bass students, I might use Hal Leonard's Bass Method, book one.  For young beginning guitar students, I recommend The Beginning Guitarist's Book by Tom Hess.  For more advanced guitar students, we will generally use materials which I have designed myself.  For drum students, I will use The Funky Primer For the Rock Drummer by Charles Dowd and The Realistic Rock Method by legendary rock drummer Carmine Appice, to name only a few resources.
LESSON STYLE
For the student, it is of greatest value to work with a teacher who has already been through the process of learning, making mistakes, and growing as a player.  With over 20,000 hours of classroom teaching experience and endless hours of musical research, I know how to get the RESULTS that students want.  I can confidently say that, if students commit themselves to the path which I will guide them on, success is 100% guaranteed!  I will work as teacher, coach and mentor to provide value which goes well beyond simply learning an instrument but to all areas of life.  I have seen the effectiveness of my approach in the results of many of my students who have gone from beginners to now playing in bands.  Let's begin working together TODAY to develop a plan for you and achieve the success that you want.

Select all the days/times the student would be available to start lessons. Selecting "3pm - 7pm" means the student can start as early as 3pm or start as late as 7pm. It is important that you select as many days and the widest window of start times for each day as possible. That will help us make a match with one of our teachers.
