I have had plenty of experience teaching both privately and in a classroom setting. I began teaching private lessons on the piano and violin in high school, where I mainly had elementary school beginners. In the third grade, I began playing violin for orchestras in New Orleans, Louisiana and later had the wonderful opportunity to be a part of the New Orleans Creative Center for the Arts. I began my musical studies at the age of eight on the violin with my mother, virtuoso violinist and violin teacher, Elaine Lee R.. I believe in training students both as instrumentalists and as overall musicians. Thus, beginning cello students will start with the Suzuki method to get basic technique down. Then, as a student improves, solo repertoire will be introduced from both the Suzuki method and other sources. Once a student has reached a state of proficiency, I will cater my teaching instead to the style that the student prefers. We can continue in classical music, or transition to contemporary styles.
