Every student is different and learns in different manners, which makes teaching a challenge. This is a challenge that motivates and excites me. I make sure to put all my effort into adapting to every student. Overall, I set reasonable goals for each student that are challenging, yet attainable. When receiving a student I first like to get to know the student by friending them. Asking question as to what their likes are and just getting to know them. For the beginner we start of with a Method book that fits their age and personaity and go from there. I was assistant principal cellist of the Mississippi Symphony Orchestra for 15 years from 1987 to 2002. I was an Assistant Professor of Music at the University of Mississippi in Oxford from 1988 and 1998. After 1998, I teach cello at the prestigious Millsaps College in Jackson, Mississippi. I was also the Music Director and Conductor of the Mississippi Youth Symphony Orchestra for 9 years. During that time, I led the youth group on inaugural overseas concert tours to stages in Europe and China, reaching their highest level and largest audiences to the date. Read More

Suzuki held. Every child can absolutely learn to play the cello when given the opportunity and the patience of an encouraging teacher. I particularly enjoy helping others on their musical journey providing a holistic approach to each and every student. Everyone learns differently and taking a one size fits all approach will leave many students unhappy and/or feeling as though they dont have the talent to play cello.
