For beginning students I like to focus attention on fundamental technique on both hands, making sure that they use the correct finger positioning on the bass. As they advance, the student will begin to know the whole fretboard through scales and arpeggios (in all keys) so the student knows where all the notes are in the instrument. Besides having an extensive career as a performer, I have always maintained 10-30 private students ranging from beginners to professional musicians. I can teach and play almost any style of guitar, and I always teach reading music, music theory, and proper technique along with any particular songs the student is interested to learn.
