Nothing is more rewarding than seeing one of my students develop a passion for music! Therefore, it's important that each student progresses at his or her own pace. I encourage this by setting realistic goals for my students at each lesson. Acknowledging accomplishments helps fuel a students desire to progress, and makes students eager to learn more. By trying to find out what inspires the student, I can successfully tailor my instruction to their wants and needs. Read More

A cheap guitar given to me by my parents for Christmas started this life in a direction that has formed me and sustained me for over twenty years. My love for the music is deep and true and it is, to me, still the greatest joy on the planet. Time stands still for me every time that I pick it up and play. Eventually, the student will progress to scales, soloing, and comping. Read More

There's more to learning to play an instrument than scales and chords. My teaching method is more holistic covering, as needed, technique, interpretation, theory, performance, ear training, music listening, transcription, music copying, the mechanics of the instrument. We usually begin with pad and pen and move from there. When suitable, an appropriate method book or specific texts are chosen. My method also includes time playing together. I've found that at a certain point much can be taught through playing in a duo setting. Read More

Most of my professional experience has been with the Marine Corps Music Program for 15 years. I also grew up with private piano lessons, and continued band and show choir throughout high school. Before my career with the Marine Corps Band, I also performed professionally around northern Ohio as a keyboardist and drummer in Top 40 and Rock bands for 3 years. I have a passion for composition and producing, and also enjoy finding innovative ways to encourage and challenge my music students. Read More
