Our music lesson students will have the opportunity to take lessons from the comfort of their own home or in one of the teachers studios. Careful attention is placed on each student to ensure a custom lesson plan. As far as my teaching methods go, I do not use any of the course books commonly used by many teachers and studios. I feel that this cookie cutter approach doesnt successfully work for everybody as it assumes everyone is the same. I have taught thousands of students over the decades and can say that I havent seen two students exactly alike the entire time. I simply enjoy helping people establish and accomplish their goals on their instruments. The first step is to identify what holds a student's attention. What is it about music that has motivated them to study? Not everyone has the same goal or vision, which is a good thing. Even self-taught musicians incorporate theory and harmony into their compositions. For high school students, I use more advanced methods and techniques that ready them for competitive auditions and college careers. I adhere to their high school curriculum while developing very specific lesson plans and practice routines that fit their desired goals. I tend to use solo pieces and repertoire that will increase the students' sight reading proficiency, playing dexterity, and target strengths and weaknesses, while refining a solid technique package.
