I am a professional guitar player, composer and educator. In 2008, I graduated from Michigan State University with a Doctor of Musical Arts degree in Composition. Prior to that, I finished programs in Europe as a guitar player in 1991. I moved to the United States in 1994. From 1995 to 2001, I've completed Master's degrees in Guitar, Composition and Electronic Music from University of Maine and Cleveland State University. I love watching my students learn and grow, musically. I encourage listening as much as possible in addition to daily practice. I like to give my students a variety of excercises or pieces to work on to ensure that they don't get bored or burnt out practicing the same thing. My teaching experience began right after high school where I joined my musician friends teaching at K-Piano Music Academy. I taught children beginner piano schools K-5 in an afterschool program and have been teaching aspiring musicians mostly online since 2020. Now I want to expand my experience to the people in our community, encouraging musicians of all skill levels to bring them to another level they might not have expected. My number one goal is to help my students accomplish their musical dreams, whether that be a classical pianist, a pop singer, the front person for a rock band, write songs or compose music for film, or just sing their favorite song of all time, whatever it takes, I will make sure that we get to the musical destination. It's important that each student progresses at their own pace. I always ask my students for one long term goal and one short term goal so that we can cast vision for where we are headed, map out the challenges along the way, but also celebrate the goals that we accomplish especially in the short term. My methods are not standard, I believe in teaching technical sides of an instrument and the creative sides. For younger students I will teach them the basics of chords and progressions, eventually leading to write their first songs. For young adults and adults I want to have them learn chords, styles, and the uses of their instruments. Creativity will always be the most important thing to hone.
