I am extremely passionate about music and have been driven my whole life, so I show my passion in my teaching by my exuberant and fun teaching style. I like to focus on long term and short term projects to build confidence in a variety of ways. I expect regular practice if not daily, and I ask questions during lessons to stimulate critical thinking. I am very encouraging, but critique when necessary and isolate a problem to address it quickly to build confidence in the student. Read More

I like using all kinds of inspirational material such as listening to reference tracks of music that the student is interested in; to provide a more personalized experience in discovering what their sound is. This also includes doing art projects(such as painting and drawing) as I believe visuals are just as important to inspiring creativity as sound is. If the student does not know what they would like to do for the first part of the lesson I typically set multiple instruments around my studio and connect them to amps and start improving or playing something and have the student join in on the jam and then move onto having them take our over and then we go from there. I believe that one of the most important things a musician can do is to find and develop their own voice on their instrument. Listening to the greats like Miles Davis, Jaco Pastorius, Jimi Hendrix, and Chick Corea illustrate how a unique voice can manifest itself and make the music so much more powerful. I am a teacher that understands that students move at different paces, because no two people are the same. I also understand that each student has different musical and artistic goals. I allow my students to set their own goals for lessons, as this places accountability on them and will help them grow more passionate for the art because they are more involved in the process of decision making.
