For young students, I start them in beginner books while singing fun songs that motivate them. For older students I pick method books more specific to their age, learning style, and progress while still focusing on key points of interest for the student. My number 1 goal as an instructor is to assess the needs and goals of the student, and to assist the student in reaching these goals while fostering a fun environment. Nothing is more important than finding your own personal passion, and making sure that your pursuit of your goals remains an enjoyable process. I try to keep my students engaged by making games for them to play while practicing. I also like to keep my students set on a goal for a given period, I believe this motivates them to push themselves. I try to be understanding of every students circumstances, so I'm understanding if a student doesn't practice for a given week. While I would like all my students to practice, I first and foremost believe consistency is important so just keeping them on the right track is often satisfactory to me. Read More
