Im a passionate teacher and professional multi-instrumentalist. I graduated with a Bachelor in Violin Performance from Appalachian State University in 2012 and have since performed classically with orchestras in eastern Tennessee and across North Carolina as well as with a professional wedding ensemble. Im also active within the Asheville music scene as a bluegrass/folk/Americana musician with two projects, Old Sap and The Jackson Grimm band. Adults are easier because they have a greater understanding of responsibilty and self control, however children learn these skills over time with propper guidance, and learning how to learn is a big part of my students' training. My teaching philosophy revolved around the idea that music should be fun and engaging. While many teachers start their students off by learning how to read music, I like to begin with actually playing and familiarizing yourself with the instrument and later translating that information to written music notation. In your first lesson, we will play the instrument and learn a simple tune based on your skill level.
