Our music lesson students will have the opportunity to take lessons from the comfort of their own home or in one of the teachers studios. Careful attention is placed on each student to ensure a custom lesson plan. Our music teachers understand that every student has different needs and abilities and therefore the lessons will be planned with that knowledge in mind.
lessons are available in the following areas:
Instruments: Piano, Violin, Flute, Music, Keyboard
Lessons are broken up into two parts: Technique and repertoire. It's important to build up proper technique to prevent injury and to refine skill. I like students to work on three pieces at a time (It sounds scary, but is totally manageable.) If I feel the student can handle more music, I will adjust. The first piece is at the student's skill level. This is so the student can accomplish the task at hand relatively quickly without a lot of wood shedding. Read More

I have been teaching beginner to advanced violin students beginning in high school, about 10 years ago, and have continued to do so through my Bachelor's and Master's degrees at New England Conservatory in Boston, MA. I was also a violin section coach for the Boston Philharmonic Youth Orchestra. I enjoy teaching both beginner and advanced violin students; each bring their own challenges and rewards to the learning process. I like to break down the psychological nature of violin-playing and how to use practice time in a way that will maximize growth as quickly as possible. Read More

In 4th grade I got a recorder and from then on I've soaked up all the music experiences around me. I fondly remember my first solo performance was 5th grade, and my first honor band was that summer. By my senior year of high school I had been involved in a couple dozen honor bands/choirs/orchestras including an amazing tour of Europe in a 200 person band! I've taught individual lessons to little kids and elders, of all different skill levels, and strongly believe that it is never too late to learn an instrument. Read More

Since then, I’ve continued teaching in both private and group settings, always finding deep fulfillment in helping students grow. I’ve held a variety of teaching and leadership roles, including positions with Portland Youth Philharmonic, the Metropolitan Youth Symphony, Music Workshop, Oregon Bravo Youth Orchestras, Ventura Harmony Project, and public school districts in California and Oregon. I’m also trained and licensed as a behavioral therapist for children with autism and have contributed to educational psychology research—work that deeply informs my student-centered, empathetic approach to music education.
