Our music lesson students will have the opportunity to take lessons from the comfort of their own home or in one of the teachers studios. Careful attention is placed on each student to ensure a custom lesson plan. When first taking private viola lessons I studied Wohfahrt Etudes. Playing 1-2 level appropriate pieces is a great amount. Repertoire from the Suzuki books are fundamental stepping stones into becoming a better musician. Much of my approach to teaching is determined by the individual student. I want my students to be the best musicians they can be, and that does require a certain amount of pressure. To the extent that I can for each, I push my students to progress quickly. It can get boring to practice the same piece over and over without variation, so practicing is required. Each person is different. Because of this, I always make sure each student is going at their own pace. At the beginning of the year, I sit down with each student and we set goals for our playing. I want students to feel motivated and inspired always, and to practice because they love it- not because they feel forced. In working towards that, I help create plans and goals that the student would be able to achieve, especially with personal practice. I make sure the student can meet their long-term goals by breaking it down week by week.
