I began my work as a teacher in college at UCLA and at Cazadero Music Camp in Northern California, both as a private instructor and group instructor in violin and viola. After 10 years of classical study and performance I decided to pursue a degree in Ethnomusicology, and direct my studies specifically toward American folk fiddling. I have been a musician since I can remember. I come from a musical family all multi instrumentalists. I received my BA Music from San Diego State University and studied as a piano major and was a member of the SDSU Symphony Orchestra playing violin. My passion since I was 5 is violin music. I love playing, listening and teaching how to play the violin. I was the first student of Aaron Rosand at The Curtis Institute of Music, and studied the violin with Ivan Galamian at Meadowmount, and Piotr Janowski at the Wisconsin Conservatory of Music, among others. I was a finalist in 3 national violin competitions and winner of 3 Wisconsin state competitions. I mainly use Suzuki method books, but am willing to work with students if they are already working on one or will assign a different method book for absolute beginners to music. I also incorporate a number of my own scale and etude exercises which are introduced early on, for both children and adults.
