Our music lesson students will have the opportunity to take lessons from the comfort of their own home or in one of the teachers studios. Careful attention is placed on each student to ensure a custom lesson plan. For beginning students, I like to start with a combination of the Suzuki method and Essential Elements. As the student progresses, I will introduce solo repertoire according to their level. For adults, I will start with basic musical training and then we will move on to a repertoire that the student is interested in learning. Once I have identified students’ individualities, I acknowledge their strengths and focus my teaching on their weaknesses. For some, this may mean reevaluation of their posture and technique, as well as their consequent effects on tone production, shifting, intonation, and ease of playing. I believe in teaching people to be true musicians and tap into their own creative spirits, not just to be technicians at the mercy of what's written for them. With that said, I take a balanced approached between learning traditional fundamentals and some of my own more philosophical approach, drawing on metaphors and analagous experiences to help frame this learning experience in ways the student can relate and understand.
