Working within the Suzuki method, I start each student out with working on posture, technique, and the fundamentals of the violin before moving on to reading/playing. It is crucial to develop good technique/posture before moving on to reading! Once this is established, it is pretty smooth sailing from there. I use Suziki Violin Method, Bastian for piano. I have also been developing my own method, and it's dependant in the students agenda. I encourage the building of reperatore early on. I have also used Liytle Einstein piano method and varies products produced by Hal Leonard. I find the students goals are very formative to the approach I choose to take. I have had plenty of experience teaching both privately and in a classroom setting. I began teaching private lessons on the piano and violin in high school, where I mainly had elementary school beginners. In college, I continued to teach private lessons and also had plenty of opportunities to work with students of all different ages and skill levels in a variety of settings.
