I started teaching lessons in college. I began teaching lessons 6 years ago, and have always taught in-home lessons. I believe that teaching in the home will help my students be more comfortable practicing at home. I prefer the one on one setting that teaching lessons gives you over the large ensemble setting. I believe it gives more opportunity to grow as a player. At that point, I introduce the chord method as well as the number system- having them play certain progressions as I prompt them to play. Everyone has unique physiology and strengths and weaknesses, so each person should be taught according to their specific characteristics.
