For all ages and all instruments, you will be working on scales, chord progressions, transposition and reading of music for piano; scales, lip slurs, technical etudes, long tones, transposition and reading of music for trumpet; and scales, slurs, technical studies, transposition and reading of music for flute. For all instruments, there will be one key book that will cover everything you need to know. I am a recent graduate of the University of Massachusetts Amherst, where I received my Masters of Music in Trumpet Performance with Eric Berlin. In my time there, I was a member of the Graduate Brass Quintet, Faculty Brass Quintet, Symphony Orchestra, Wind Ensemble, and Trumpet Ensemble. I also had the opportunity to perform on two concerts with the Boston Philharmonic Orchestra in Symphony Hall. In my lessons, I work hard to create a routine that best fits the students needs. This typically means that many of my students are not following a specific lesson plan or standard routine. Starting out, I stress fundamentals and warm-ups to help the students create a solid grasp of the instrument, before making the move towards solo repertoire. Of course, the older and more experience the student is will influence the difficulty of the routine, however, I always make sure that goals that I have set for a student are within reach. Read More

I cater my teaching to the students needs as an individual and their goals. I am interested in fostering their inate musical abilities, as well as the musical skills they wish to obtain. If the student is in a school instrumental program, I always defer to the band director as the student spends more time with them. I will take the students progress seriously, and expect them to do the same, so I make sure the expectation to practice is clear. Read More
