Overview:
I am a native of Northeast Ohio, having grown up in Ashtabula.  I received a BM in Trumpet Performance and will soon be finishing a MM in Music Composition and MM in Choral Conducting all from The University of Akron.  In addition to teaching lessons, I am the Director of Music Ministries at First Evangelical Lutheran Church in Strongsville, OH.  I also perform around Northeast Ohio with community bands and choirs, for musical theater at locations such as the Near West Theatre of Cleveland, and at many local churches, bars, and other event locations.  I am an avid freelance composer and arranger and am always working on new and exciting musical ideas.
EXPERIENCE
My teaching experience dates all the way back to my high school days when I gave trumpet lessons to some younger family members.  I expanded to giving trumpet lessons to adults and youth during my undergraduate days at The University of Akron.  When I started graduate school there, I began teaching voice lessons, composition and arranging lessons, and conducting lessons.  I also have experience teaching in group and classroom settings for college and high school aged students.  Currently as the Director of Music Ministries at a church in Strongsville, I teach music to children from pre-school to 5th grade in both group and individual settings.  I'm always looking to bring on new students to help instill a passion for music!
METHODS USED
I do my best to cater to each individual students needs.  For younger beginning studetns, I typically start with Hal Leonard's Essential Elements, or whatever materials they are using in school.  For all of my students, even the more experienced ones, I work on building fundamentals and extending techniques.  Fundamentals are an essential cornerstone to build all other aspects of music upon.  Also from the very start of lessons, I like to have the student working on actual music, whether it be a simple song or more advanced solo repertoire, the goal of these lessons should be to better make music and have fun doing it!
LESSON STYLE
My lessons typically break down into three sections: Building Fundamental, Extending Techniques, and Making Music.  How much time is spent on each of these is dependent on the individual student and what they need to develop most at that particular time.  I always give students attainable goals for the next week, and a few long-term goals.  I find these goals help keep the student on task from week to week and give them something to keep striving for.  Students must feel that they are making progress in order to remain inspired and passionate about music.

Select all the days/times the student would be available to start lessons. Selecting "3pm - 7pm" means the student can start as early as 3pm or start as late as 7pm. It is important that you select as many days and the widest window of start times for each day as possible. That will help us make a match with one of our teachers.
