I try to teach the same way that I live my life, fun and happy. I want to make sure that the student grows in ability and passion for their instrument while progressing at their own pace and making sure that they grow and have realistic goals for where they are at that time of the lesson. I began teaching music lessons to my friends and peers who were beginning to take up new instruments(piano, bass, & guitar) when I was in middle school. At that time, I had developed a strong foundation in piano, begun learning trumpet in school, and self-taught myself the guitar. As a teacher, I have learned the last 4 years that you can't expect a student to just know something right away. It takes time, and students have to take it at their own pace. Sometimes, you have to differentiate instruction often, until the student starts to understand something. So, I find it is important to be student-centered and focus on the goals they can achieve, little at a time.
