Jeff has performed at One World Theater, Stateside at the Paramount, and the Long Center for the Performing Arts since his arrival on the Austin music scene in 2007. My teaching experience began when I was in college. I taught trombone and euphonium private lessons for several years in the school district that I attended when I was a student. Additionally, I also have done All State Masterclasses for the TMEA trombone etudes. Encouraging regular practice, building the life-long skill of discipline, and hard work are key skills that I enjoy getting to emphasize to my students, as it has a tendency to build student progression and ultimately gain a passion for learning the instrument. My teaching style is to MAKE IT FUN. No punishment. I encourage my students to play or sing whatever they want with my help for the structure. For example: I'm teaching a student to date music theory. At one point 10 years ago when I was teaching a student theory, she completely shut down and wanted no longer to take piano lessons because of the difficulty of it. I started teaching lessons in college. I began teaching lessons 6 years ago, and have always taught in-home lessons. I believe that teaching in the home will help my students be more comfortable practicing at home. I prefer the one on one setting that teaching lessons gives you over the large ensemble setting. I believe it gives more opportunity to grow as a player. I work with students of all ages, because I believe everyone that has a drive to get better deserves the opportunity to study with someone who will push them in that direction. Read More
