My name is Chris, and I have been playing trumpet for over twenty years. I grew up in the TX public schools and was a two time TMEA All-State Musician. I hold three degrees in music from accredited universities: DMA at UGA, MM at UT-Austin, BM at NDSU. I enjoy teaching and helping others, and have a patient, kind approach to working with people. Music is a wonderful gift that we can all share in, and I am happy to pass on what I have gained from my musical experiences. Read More

For each lesson, I begin with a 5 to 10 minute warmup before moving on to the student's assigned music. I like to alternate between actual performance/practicing, and teaching concepts including music theory. I also wrap-up every lesson by spending 5 minutes in review with the student, going over what they need to practice in the coming week ahead. Read More

I get a thrill when I can see one of my student's develop a passion for music. It is fulfilling to see them understand the fundamentals of jazz and to know where the music comes from. I like to give a brief history of the style and song to develop an emotional connection with the music being played. This allows the student to put feeling into the song rather than playing notes on a page. Read More
Instruments: Trumpet, Trombone, Saxophone, Flute, Clarinet, Euphonium
I am a very calm and patient person. I try to find out what the student want to achieve and go from there. I am also big on detail. Read More
