I enjoy teaching all ages from the very beginning student to the more advanced students and can adapt my teaching methods accordingly. I feel each student learns differently and that we are all individuals with different personalities and learning styles. I start with the end in mind. Once your student has established clear, realistic goals with me, all the focus is on reaching those goals. It is also made clear that it is the student's responsibility to come into each lesson showing clear evidence that they've practiced the music. I'm stern about this. I am a young passionate and motivated musician who loves interacting with students and sharing my love for music. I am currently a student at the University of North Carolina at Greensboro majoring in Music performance with a concentration in Jazz. Mainly based in the North Carolina region I have performed all over the east coast in clubs venues and jazz festivals. I have had the opportunity to share the stage with a number of top notch musicians and have even taken my band to host one of the late night jam sessions at the Pittsburg International Jazz festival. I began teaching students in earnest during my senior year of undergraduate school in 1984-85. Prior to graduate school I was an adjunct trumpet teacher at Converse College in Spartanburg, SC. Part of my graduate assistantship was as an instructor and since graduation I have helped a number of students from beginner to intermediate level achieve their goals in both classical and non classical settings.
