Instruments: Trumpet, Saxophone, Flute, Clarinet

Teaching music to students has always been a huge passion of mine and developing a love of music is always my top priority. I had a lot of bad habits that developed over years so it will always be my goal to make sure this isn't the case with my students. Playing music should be fun, never too hard or painful. I will put a big emphasis on posture and building proper habits from the beginning. Read More

Instruments: Piano, Voice, Trumpet, Trombone, Recorder, Euphonium

With all of my students I am kind, patient, gentle, humorous, encouraging, and positive with my feedback. Students regularly give feedback on the music they are making, as well as any new ways they think I might be helpful to them. I use Howard Gardner's Multiple Intelligence Theory to help inform me of the students learning style. My goal is to nurture each students musical process. I support whatever pace students choose to employ, and tailor my instruction to their needs and wants. Read More

Instruments: Guitar, Trumpet, Bass Guitar

I always start with getting to know the student and identifying his or her goals. What is the objective? From there, we will map out how we are going to get to that point. Most students' goal is to learn songs, so we will begin by identifying what those songs are. I will then figure out what skills are needed to play those songs, and we will start learning those skills at the most basic level possible, gradually increasing complexity until you have the ability to put those skills together and start rocking out! Brian B

Instruments: Trumpet, Trombone, Saxophone, Euphonium, Tuba

For beginning students who are children, I typically start with Hal Leonard's Essential Elements. Once the student has progressed to have a grasp of fundamentals, I will begin to introduce solo repertoire appropriate for their first recital performance. For adults, I try to find out what the student is interested in, and guide my instruction accordingly to keep the lessons engaging and fun no matter their ability level. If the students need help working on a particular work for their school (ex solo ensemble, college audition, drum corps audition, concert band works, jury auditions, etc.) I am willing to help the students be successful. Thomas G

Instruments: Trumpet, Trombone, Euphonium, French Horn

I have a dynamic, positive, and passionate teaching style. Each student is able to move at their own pace and focus on their specific needs. Students learn to set their own goals and find what practice strategies work for them. I am very quick to point out successes, even in the very small things. I also create space for students to be themselves and create a little bit. Creativity is one of the highest levels of understanding and it's also fun! Read More

It is important that you select as many days and the widest window of start times for each day as possible. That will help us make a match with one of our teachers.
