Our music lesson students will have the opportunity to take lessons from the comfort of their own home or in one of the teachers studios. Careful attention is placed on each student to ensure a custom lesson plan. Our music teachers understand that every student has different needs and abilities and therefore the lessons will be planned with that knowledge in mind.

For beginning students depending on the instrument of choice, I use: (In no particular order) Standard of Excellence for Band Instruments, consistent with school best practice methods Piano Adventures by Nancy and Randall Faber, for consistency and technique development as well as decent solo repertoire for recitals Hal Leonard's Complete Guitar Course or Alfred, both are good sources. I love making music and helping students to be confident making music. I know that life can get busy and students won't always be able to practice every day, so I set realistic goals for them and emphasize that even just a little bit of (focused) practice is much better than no practice at all. The most important thing is that students feel like they are making progress and are enjoying the process, rather than checking off a box of drudgery every day just to check it off. Read More

I like to maintain a fun atmosphere in my lessons. Especially for younger students, there will always be moments of frustration, so encouragement is key. The trombone is a very difficult instrument, especially for beginners, but with the right encouragement and dedication any student can thrive. Once a student reaches a certain level or age, I believe if they want to grow on trombone they will. I will give them more independence to set their own goals and choose their own repertoire.
