Instruments: Trumpet, Trombone, Saxophone, Euphonium, Tuba

My teaching experience dates back to my college days, as I began teaching marching band eight years ago. After graduating from Tarleton State University in 2014, I began teaching at the junior high and high school levels. In between teaching classes I would help students after school with working on their music for class as well as encouraging students to push themselves with more challenging literature. During the concert season I would meet with sections or individuals for lessons for their solo or ensemble auditions. Read More

I have on several occasions performed with the Rappahannock Pops Orchestra as well as the Fredericksburg Big Band. Read More

I began teaching privately during high school. I would teach local middle school students. I have taught privately off and on since then. I encourage regular practice at home on a consistent schedule. I work with whichever book the students classroom teacher uses and also supplement my own pieces. I encourage students to have a say in their own learning by picking music they like that will still be educational. Read More

For the very beginners, I like to use Essential Elements 2000 or Standard of Excellence Book. Depending on the student's development the next step will be H.L Clarke's Technical Studies. After this, I would find easy music that the student can identify with and be interested in, such as Disney books, Harry Potter, etc. For the more advanced high school students, they will also use Clarke's Technical Studies, Arban's Complete Conservatory Method for trumpet, and Rubank Method Books which come in Elementary, Intermediate and Advanced levels.
