For beginning trombone students, I typically work with the Rubank Elementary Method (old, but it works well), the Emory Remington Warm-Up Studies, and various material that I compose to help a student overcome their weaknesses. Scales make up a major part of any student's learning, and once a student masters the basics of the trombone, I move on to appropriate solo repertoire based on the student's progress and interests.
