I'm a passionate trumpet instructor who, more than anything, enjoys teaching others and spreading the greatness of music. In 2021, I graduated from Clovis West High School with the desire to become a music teacher and more specifically to teach trumpet lessons. I am currently attending Clovis Community College and plan on transferring to Fresno State to pursue a degree in music education. I make my own lesson materials using musical notation software and cater the lesson to the needs of the student. Every student is different and requires special attention. For example, a beginner percussionist would start off learning how to read and notate rhythms all the way up to 16th notes to start. I would then move into how to hold drum sticks and how to hit a drum. I would build upon these concepts to facilitate lessons to come and tailor the lesson to the individual. Read More

While in high school and college, I mostly tutored other students in history, chemistry, and math. However I worked as a private instructor for students learning violin and guitar for much of 2017. I was trained classically in violin in the Suzuki method, took rock/folk-based instruction in guitar, and learned brass and percussion through my high school marching band, which also doubled as a concert ensemble for half of the school year. When I see a smile on someone's face in the presence of a musical accomplishment, the spiritual reward for that service is something I live for! To be able to help a student attain their goals requires a flexible teaching style, that can cater to every type of person. Positive affirmations are a key ingredient to helping a student feel good about they mile stones, but remaining realistic for the student at the same time allows them to make progress at their own pace, and feel good about it nonetheless. I try to make the learning fun and interesting for my students. My goal is to have them look forward to their next lesson and make learning their instrument something they value. I believe every student progresses at their own pace. I make sure the lesson is at a level they can handle, but challenging enough to give them a sense of accomplishment when they achieve success. Music can provide lifelong benefits of building confidence, self discipline, improved brain functioning in the area of math and reading, and the enjoyment of performing their skill with other musicians.
