After going through that, with some other material on the side, such as performance pieces, etc, they would progress to the Arban book (at around high school age for the student who began in sixth grade, as I did). Hi, my name is Max. I graduated CSULB with a degree in Music Education. My main instruments is the violin but I enjoy playing and teaching most of the band and orchestra instruments. I taught my first music lesson in 7th grade to another trombone student in the band on how to play a part, after my band director was overwhelmed with other parts and HERE IT BEGAN. I have traveled across the country and worked in communities, providing affordable music lessons and community inspiration for all types of peoples. The methods that I use will be outlined to you before the first lesson. Beginning students learn rudiments and work into repertoire of their own interest as time moves along. Intermediate students and beyond learn should indicate any interests they have musically to have a supplement to lesson materials. I encourage my students to participate in Music Teacher National Association competitions, festivals, and other events when appropriate. I have the goal of helping students look at music the way I do: with passion and inspiration. I encourage students to open their minds and set goals for themselves. For example, I would ask them the question, "By playing music, what do you want to accomplish?" I have asked this question to myself many times throughout my life thus far, and it has worked because I have accomplished so much. Read More
