I discovered my love for teaching in High School when my fellow students would always come to me for music help or coaching. In college I took our Vocal Pedegogy class and it was the perfect fit. I was so interested in the subject I asked my professors for more and we started the Coker College Community Program together. I have now been teaching for a little over four years and have vocal coached on two major college productions: Spring Awakening 2013, and I Love You, You're Perfects, Now Change. Read More

As a double-major in psychology and music, I combine both disciplines in my teaching to help students learn in a holistic, effective way. I love implementing research-based practice and performance techniques to help students at home and onstage. Healthy mindset is also one of my biggest priorities for my students, as I don't believe that one must sacrifice mental health in order to attain musical excellence. My goal is to create an environment where students feel safe, accomplished, challenged, and fulfilled. Read More

I think that every student is unique. I tend to create a custom program for every student, based on his/her special talents. By special talents I mean student's psychological particularities and tendencies. Student can have a very good sense of rhyhm, for example, so I am going to give this student some pieces of Spanish composers, like Albenis or some rhythmical jazz pieces. Student might be very lyrical and romantic and emotional, so I am going to give him/her some Chopin or Schuber or Schumann pieces. Read More

I also utilize many listening and repeating techniques outside of reading. It is important to have the connection of ear to playing with music just as with a language. Read More

I continued when I went to college, teaching both piano and drums to kids and adult beginners, as well as college students on campus. This continued into my graduate studies, where I was also a Music Theory T.A. for two years. Read More
