For beginner/intermediate students I use the Essential Elements method plus Suzuki when they reach a higher level of playing. My advanced students can expect to play etudes from the Schroeder book as well as Popper when they get to that level. I am open to teaching repertoire that the student is interested in, as long as the level isn't too far beyond their reach. For adults, we mostly stick to Suzuki and Essential Elements, but I have found that incorporating songs they are familiar with is helpful in their education. Read More

For beginners I use the first suzuki books while also teaching scales to teach theory as well as hand positions. After the first suzuki book, I assign my own pieces based on the students interests or what I think would help their technique. Since all students are different, assign pieces based on what I think would help them improve the most. I also assign music from a variety of composers to teach students different styles and different musical periods. Read More
