I like to bring in all genre's of music including rock and pop, folksongs, movie tunes just to name a few. I find that students learn quickly when learning music that is already familiar to them. I work with tapping rhythms and singing note names, then learn how to pluck the part and then finally add the bow. I started teaching music classes in 1992. As a public school music teacher, I have taught students in grades 1-12. I taught concert band, jazz band, marching band, string orchestra, full orchestra, and general music. I have conducted a women's chorale and taught college as well. For 7 years, I trained music education students and supervised their teaching experiences. I encourage all students to explore and discover their own learning styles and I never use shame or comparison as a motivator. My lessons are always fun and upbeat, with lots of healthy celebration of progress!
