A Texas native, Clynt grew up exposed to a variety of music. The southern influence of blues, gospel, country, and jazz were a huge part of his musical upbringing. While his formal training was largely in classical music for many years, he also remembers learning his first tunes note-by-not from his father (a jazz and country musician) in their living room in Texas when he was not out of elementary school. Having experienced both formal and informal training methods all of his life, he is adept at providing either - or any ratio - of the two to a student in need. Read More

I believe that in learning an instrument and music, there is no such thing as difficult, only unfamiliar. As musicians, we must familiarize ourselves with things we do not know in order to excel in our instrument and create music. It can be anything from learning to play one note or writing a symphony. No matter what we learn, the rewards are endless! The lessons I teach are built around a stress free environment where no judgement can be found. Read More

My teaching style is based on a balance between fun and progression. I have a loose, fun-loving personality that can also be balanced with the seriousness to get things done. I ensure that the student knows that I care, both about their goals, and them as an individual. I use a lot of humor and wit in my lessons to help make sure my students are relaxed. I also provide critical feedback that both allows students to improve while at the same time highlight a student's strengths. Read More

This concept is based on using air as the primary energy source for producing sound. We will work on strengthening the breathing apparatus to be able to produce a pure clear tone that is without distortion. From there we work on being able to keep that same sound thought the full range of the instrument. Read More

There are many reasons why a student learns the trumpet in a private lesson setting; some students are dreaming to become professional performers, some students are just taking the lesson to play well in the school band/orchestra. A teacher should identify each students individual needs and tailor the lesson plan accordingly. A teacher should be flexible with the teaching method and help each student to achieve his/her individual goals. Read More
